Leather and skin materials comprise a vast and varied category, woven through the history and development of humankind. Many skin materials have been relatively under researched within the context of conservation, and outdated knowledge remains widespread. Therefore, education is an important part of the LCC remit, as disseminating up-to-date information on best practice is essential for the preservation of knowledge, skills and objects.

The LCC values public engagement, and actively seeks funding to help facilitate educational activities with a range of audiences.

A regular programme of CPD courses for professional conservators is available annually (please see upcoming courses below).

The conservation team can also create specialist courses and workshops on relevant topics for heritage professionals and special interest groups.

Please email if you would like to discuss a course or event.
